How Kathleen Is Rocking 1 Kidney

I donated a kidney at age 44 in Denver, CO in March 2021. My husband taught special education at a local high school and alerted me to a news story of a girl in his program that needed a kidney. He had only been at the school a few months and didn’t know her personally, but she was well loved by his team. As a mother of three boys, my heart constricted listening to this girl’s mother in the news story speak of her worry for her daughter. I believe we are on this earth to serve each other, and especially, as women, as mothers, we should do whatever we can to ease another’s pain, to lift people up.
To be honest, I thought it would go nowhere, and I would feel good about my effort, maybe learn about my health in the process. But lo and behold, I was found to be a perfect match for sweet Marwah, 18 years old at the time. I have felt wonderful since, and am up to all my typical fun hijinks with my family–I teach about 14 yoga classes each week, and outside of that we hike, ski, camp, etc.
